Brothers in Arms by RussellTuller Brothers in Arms by RussellTuller
Alright, I put a lot of work into this one and I already see things which I should fix. Itís strange how things become really noticeable once itís scannedÖ Ah well, It looks good enough for now I say. My scanner is just evil, it makes the colors all look wrong and bad tooÖ. The original is far better.

Iíve been really immersing myself into my recent little story line which at the moment only exists in my head and it has inspired many works of art this time around.

This may possibly be one of my more ambitious projects to date. First time portraying a wolf character angry, first time creating a sort of magic effect, and the first time portraying two characters in a colored piece.

This piece here shows two allies fighting side by side. The wolf playing the part of protector while the deer the caster/healer. While the deer in my little world can fight their weaponry is pretty primitive, but they are very adept at what they call ďEarth MagicĒ which allows them to bend nature to their will and use its powers to heal among other things. In large numbers using rituals they can even control the weather or even bring recently deceased animals or plants back to life. These are all very useful on the battlefield and the wolves are very grateful for it.

Hope you all enjoy the art.

Mechanical and Colored Pencils along with Black Felt and White Gel pens on Parchment Paper.

Very nice! ^^ Haha I understand you with the scanner bit, whenever I scan something black and white it seems alright, sometimes even better, but anything with color it murders. xD Love the concept behind this piece too.

I really enjoy the works that you create and the wonderful detail incorporated. What I love most about your pieces is the awesome presence of nature and beatiful creatures. The anatomy is really amazing, very well done!

Awesome! I always imagined the deer elder have mystical powers. Excellent as always, and improving! I do suggest give more attention to the negative space. I see the two figure ready for a fight, but I don't see any threats on the page. If you added some enemies surrounding them, it'd give more to the minds eye. Also, maybe you could shade certain parts of the face and eyes to help show more expression, possibly parts of the bodies (or fur) to give them more 3-dimensional.

I don't mean to criticize, just giving my view. Still, I love it! Can't wait for your next creation!

What a delightful picture! It is so pleasant to see two ancient enemies fighting alongside one another.

I cannot see anything wrong it with, but then I am no artist. But I do love the concept, and the backstory as well. I have been following the other pictures since I joined your band.

Thank you.

It is my belief that nothing is born or created inherently evil or enemies with something else. Yes, while deer and wolves may appear to be enemys in the wild it is not that wolves kill deer just for the sake of killing them it is only out of necessity, there are many deer and deer provide a great food source for a group of large carnivores other than anything else wolves could possibly hunt. Creatures don’t kill for the sake of killing they kill so they can live. This is natures way.

I love the posing and positioning from the waist up, you really set up a dynamic pose! However, I do feel that the deer's legs should be pivoted further to the left, he looks slightly unstable.

Your anthro armor always looks nice, like it was designed for the creature. :>
